This is where the motorhome is at its biggest disadvantage especially if you plan to stay in one location for some time. Every time you wish to go and buy supplies or do some sight seeing you need to pack up everything before you can move. To get around this problem some people tow a small vehicle behind the motorhome but this tends to defeat the main atribute of having a single vehicle. However the motorhome being a single vehicle does not need to be hitched to the tow vehicle before it can be moved. Also being the smallest of the 3 will fit into smaller sites than the other two.

Another disadvantage suffered by many motorhomes is that the height of the main bed area above the cabin is very restricted. In addition climbing the ladder up to the bed area may be difficult for many people.

There is little to choose between the other 2 units except that the conventional van provides full roof height around the bed area. However when it comes to hitching up the 5th wheeler has a big advantage. The 5th wheeler takes a single person 60 seconds to hitch up - so it is far quicker to get going on the road when compared with the conventional van which will usually need two people and a fair length of time. In addition there is no heavy lifting required with the 5th wheeler.
